If you are on holiday in the Grosseto area you cannot miss the famous “Cascate del Mulino” (“The Windmill Falls”) in Saturnia. This name come from the legend of Saturn, who was driven from Olympus by his son Jupiter and wandered around the Italian peninsula until he settled in the beautiful Maremma. These waterfalls come from the Gorello stream and are well-known for the naturally created limestone pools that are located on various levels of the waterfall. The sulphurous water of which these pools are full naturally reach a temperature of 37 C° and have beneficial effects both on the skin and the respiratory system.  Since they are basically free spas and therefore open to the public, they are usually very crowded, so we suggest you to go there early in the morning in order to be one of the first to get to the pools and to fully enjoy the beautiful sight that only nature can give. Se si è villeggianti nella provincia di Grosseto non può mancare una visita alle famose Cascate del Mulino di Saturnia. Il loro nome deriva dalla leggenda di Saturno che, cacciato dall’Olimpo dal figlio Giove, vagò per la penisola italica fino a che non si stabilì nella bella Maremma.

Queste cascate sono alimentate dal torrente del Gorello e sono rinomate per le vasche calcaree createsi naturalmente che si ergono dall’alto verso il basso su vari livelli. Le acque solfuree di cui queste vasche sono colme raggiungono naturalmente la temperatura dei 37 c° ed hanno effetti benefici sulla pelle e sull’apparato respiratorio. Essendo terme libere, e quindi aperte al pubblico, sono molto affollate, perciò consigliamo di recarsi sul posto la mattina presto così da riservarsi una delle vasche in modo da godere a pieno dello spettacolo che solo la natura sa donare.
